Description of Product

 1. The product is used to extend the range of standard infrared remote
controls used to operate TV's, Video machines, Satellite Receivers and
music systems.

2. The product consists of two units, a TRANSMITTER unit and a RECEIVER
unit. The TRANSMITTER which is normally placed in the bedroom,
receives infrared (IR) pulses from remote controls. It converts
these to radio frequency (RF) signals which are transmitted the
RECEIVER. The RECEIVER re-converts the RF signal back into IR pulses
and emits these to the TV equipment to be controlled, normally set
up in the main viewing TV room.

3. Thus, a user can watch satellite TV (for example) in his or her
bedroom, but still can operate the satellite receiver in the main TV room.

5. Mechanical Construction:
Polycarbonate plastic casing with infrared filter impregnation.

6. Electronic Construction:

FR4 fiberglass pc board, 1.6mm thick, 3SuM copper, single sided,
solder mask, tin/lead coating over copper.

MOV protection on mains input for surge and spike protection.

7. Manufacturing Process:

Majority of electronic components are SMD, mounted by automatic
pick and place equipment and reflow soldered by temperature
profiled IR oven.

Product tested at two points in production line for the following
parameters; functional, RF signal level and frequency, IR power
level and frequency.

Fold-out telescope antenna.
Internal plastic cover over high voltage (220/240V) components.
Double screened .mains cable with moulded plug, secured to plastic
case with integral grommet.
